Both current
demographics and future aging trends clearly define an unprecedented
increase in the aging population nationwide. Projected increases
in fatalities involving older people will require an improved

This instructional
module is designed to ensure that law enforcment professionals
have the communication skills needed to successfully interact
with older drivers. If these interactions are handled respectfully,
using the knowledge gained in the module abou the aging process,
the infirmities of aging, and effective communication techniques,
the outcome of these interactions will be positive and in the
best interest of all concerned.
